OTP simply means One-Time-Password.
OTP registration is a must, if you want to use your ATM debit card to make payments on any web merchant site that has integrated to the interswitch Payment
The OTP simply serves as a second level authentication process in addition to your Card Number, PIN and CVV2 code.
Without it, you might also not be able to transfer money on Quickteller website.
Once you’ve registered for OTP, your bank will by default send you the OTP via text or email whenever you are about to make payments online. You will then be
required, to enter it in other to complete the transactions.
How To Activate or Register for OTP in Nigeria
1. Activation by your Bank
Upon request for an ATM (Verve or MasterCard) card at your bank, kindly ask for the card to be activated/ registered for Safetoken for use for online payments. (GTBank issued cards are exempted from this).
2. Self-Activation at the ATM
If you can’t go to the bank to get your debit card activated/ registered for Safetoken, you can simply head to the nearest ATM and carry out the activation yourself by following these simple steps:

Visit an ATM
Insert your card
Select “Pay bills”
Choose your account type
Enter 322222 as the payment code
Enter your phone number as ‘Customer Reference’
Accept the N1.00 amount displayed
Follow prompts to complete the activation
Please note that you will be charged a total of N101.00 only with N100 being the convenience fee.
Once activated/registered, whenever you are about to make payments online an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile phone via SMS.
You might also have to send an SMS to “30010” from your registered mobile number and an OTP will be sent to your phone via SMS. You can then enter the OTP received on the web payment page to enable you complete the payment transaction successfully.
