How To Dry Out Your Apple Watch After A Swim

Most devices are water resistant but being water resistant doesn’t mean they are water proof, it just means they can handle certain amounts of water with a certain pressure not all. The Apple Watch can be worn in the shower, in the rain, while swimming, or while running  till you sweat. Adding to it’s features it can also expel any excess water that may have gotten into it.

Here’s a simple quick way to seal your Watch from damage before jumping into a pool or taking a shower:

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Command Center
  • Scroll up or down by either rotating the Digital Crown or flicking the screen with your finger until you see the water drop icon. Tap the water drop icon.

When you do this your Watch automatically seals up its speakers and microphone and the screen stops responding to taps or swipes. When you’re out of the water zone, you can now rotate your Watch’s crown. It will beep a few times expel any water that may have gotten in and reactivate the screen so you can tap and swipe again.

Your watch will also automatically seal itself up when its activity monitor senses you’re swimming or about to start a swimming workout. You can unlock your Watch when you’re done by rotating the crown. Note that, Apple warns that substances like soapy water, lotions, and sunscreen or environments such as steam baths and saunas can eventually wear out the Watch’s water-resistant seals. Finally, check your Watch band; not all are water resistant.

You swim as you like, or bathe for as long as you want to but ensure you are careful with your watch to avoid damage.
