Nokia 215

Microsoft changes the game yet again with the introduction of a well-defined entry level phone; Nokia 215 – an extremely cheap device with ‘Nokia’ branding though. If you think you have found that perfect budget device already, you just might need to think again. Microsoft has cooked up something more than Pizza!

Spotting bright colours like the Lumia big brothers, Nokia 215 is a budget internet ready phone that brings the basics to the table. The 215 is bound in a handy shell and keeps a screen with something that looks like Clear Black Display (don’t take my word for it). This device does not run any of the popular mobile operating systems but it is true to say it plays J2ME with a Symbian kind of user interface.

Nokia 215 as it is, is ready to make you go social with its pre-installed Facebook and Messenger apps and what’s more? You get instant notifications right away! That said, this surprising budget device also comes with Opera Mini pre-installed as well as Bing Search and MSN Weather.

The Buzzer!

This handy smartie boasts of an amazing battery life. According to Microsoft, Nokia 215 is expected to last 29 days on stand-by mode with a single charge. And… 50 hours of music playback time plus 45 hours of FM Radio playback time.

Quick Specs:

  • Single SIM & Dual SIM Variants
  • Available in 3 colours (Green, White & Black)
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • Camera
  • Supports MicroSD up to 32GB
  • LED Flashlight
  • Pre-installed apps including Opera Mini, Facebook, Messenger, Bing Search & MSN Weather
  • Up to 20 hours of talk time & 29 days of battery life on stand-by.

Price & Availability

We expect the Nokia 215 to arrive Africa, Asia and Europe in Q1 2015 with the price tag of $29. Say N4,500 – N5,000 for Nigeria.

What do you think of this device? Will you buy one when it becomes available?
