WhatsApp is one of the few messaging apps that encrypt their users’ messages as they go to and fro their servers. This data encryption makes it difficult for anyone to remotely peeps into the conversations of their users. These messaging apps including but not limited to WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Telegram and SnapChat might be banned in the United Kingdom if David Cameron is re-elected as the Prime Minister.
While the world ids still responding to the Paris attacks, David made it known that he is going to step up anti-terror security by making sure all online conversations are readable by security agencies by stopping those methods of communication that are unreadable.
He said: “I’m not particularly interested in all this civil liberties stuff when it comes to these people’s emails and mobile phone conversations. If they’re a threat to our society then I want them properly listened to.”
However, privacy groups have always opposed and criticized limiting privacy controls in the name of security. Some governments use it to infringe of human rights.
