Huawei P20 Expected to Launch on March 27

Huawei is all set to launch a series of smartphones next month. The Shenzen-based manufacturer will announce smartphones in its new flagship series, Huawei P20, in March 2018. The company has reportedly sent press invites for an event that will take place in Paris on March 27.

Huawei was expected to launch new handsets at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona, but it now appears that it will host a separate event to unveil its new series.

As per GSMArena, Huawei’s new smartphone could either be called P11 or P20. Another report by Android Central points to the P20 name via Huawei trademark filings. Also, famous tipster Roland Quandt had previously revealed that Huawei is working on a three new smartphones: the Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Lite, and Huawei P20 Plus.

Earlier in December 2017, a report had suggested that Huawei is planning to launch three new smartphones as part of its 2018 roadmap.

At a press conference in Israel, held by Electra Consumer Products (an importer of Huawei phones), plans for the Huawei P20 series were claimed to have been revealed. Interestingly, the report also mentioned that two other smartphones, with codenames Maya and Salina, will be launched by Huawei in the first quarter of 2018.

Huawei’s P-series is known to bring in new camera features, and we can expect the same this year. The company had launched the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus at MWC 2017. A jump from the P10 to P20, instead of P11 could mean a massive upgrade over the last year’s handsets.

Reports have indicated that the Huawei P20 family may ship with the Kirin 970 AI-powered processor and run Android Oreo. It could also feature a full-screen design and three rear cameras.

Another tipster, Evan Blass, in December last year posted a picture on Twitter, saying, “Is the next Huawei P-series going to be an imaging powerhouse? A digital artist at one of the company’s creative agencies added these ‘PCE Series’ ads to their portfolio – claiming 40MP, 3 lens rear (5x hybrid zoom) + 24MP selfie, all Leica-co-developed.”

Notably, Huawei is said to be planning to expand its smartphone range into the United States by next year. Huawei’s upcoming flagship smartphones could now be a part of its offerings in the country.
