Modern Smart TVs support technologies like DLNA and Miracast, and most newer phones can take advantage of these. All you need to do is install a DNLA app that will allow you stream content from your mobile device to your TV.
While Android has a few more choices for DLNA apps that act as servers, the choice is slightly more limited on iOS. So far, I’ve been able to use two of such apps. They are iMediaShare mobile app and BubbleUPnP UPnP/DLNA. Both DNLA apps works perfectly with my EZcast wireless dongle.
As at the time of publishing this, BubbleUPnP UPnP/DLNA is not available for iPhone nor iPad but available for android. iMediaShare on the handle hand is available for iOS and Android.
I prefer iMediaShare app because it is easier to use.
BubbleUPnP UPnP/DLNA is a more versatile app packed with many features.
Some features are provided by BubbleUPnP Server, an optional software that can be installed on any machine on your local network to provide additional services. Some features are restricted and can be unlocked by purchasing the BubbleUPnP License app.
You can download BubbleUPnP UPnP/DLNA for Android from Google Play.
Are there other DNLA apps you can recommend?
