It’s no more news that there will be a restriction on ATM use, Internet Banking access and use of alternative channels for customers WHO HAVEN’T COMPLETED THEIR BVN REGISTRATION. This is in line with CBN overall strategy of ensuring the effectiveness of “Know Your Customer” (KYC) principles as it gives every Bank customer a unique identity across the Nigerian Banking Industry.
If you’re a sterling bank account holder that have already enrollled for BVN at another bank, you can easily link the BVN number to your sterling bank account using your mobile phone. hence, no need stressing yourself going to the bank to update your account.
How?
From your registered phone number tied to your sterling bank account, dial: *822*3*BVN# at no cost.
E.g. *822*3*20123456975#
A notification will be displayed that “BVN….. has been sucessfully submitted for mapping to your profile. Kindly note that this is subject to further verification”
That’s all.
Alternatively,
1. Walk into any designated Sterling Bank Branch
2. Submit details of existing account together with BVN at the branch
3. Verify your BVN by fingerprint or facial capture at the branch
4. Your BVN will be updated with your existing accounts after verification
Please note that you may also send in details of your BVN to customercare@sterlingbankng.com however the update may only be complete after physical verification is done at the branch.
