Android 7.1.2 Nougat Beta Available For Pixel and Nexus Phones

Google on Monday announced a new incremental Nougat update, version 7.1.2. The new release is “just around the corner,” which means anyone looking to beta test it can do so. You still need to have a compatible device to do so, and that means you need a supported Pixel or Nexus devices.

Android 7.1.2 is an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements, so it includes a number of bugfixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users,” Google said in its announcement, without actually detailing any new features.

The final Android 7.1.2 build will be available in a couple of months, and it’ll work on variety of devices, including the Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C. In other words, if you own older Nexus hardware, don’t expect to run either the beta or final releases.

To try out the beta, you have to enroll your device in the beta program, if it’s not included in it already, and wait for Google to roll out the update over-the-air. Simply head over to android.com/beta and register for the update.
